Why donate to us?

Cenla Cat Project is a 501(c)(3) public charity that was started in January 2017 by a group of cat lovers that saw a need and decided to meet that need. That need was the humane elimination of feline overpopulation and homelessness in Central Louisiana. As a start-up public charity we were donated seed money to start and run the project for the first year. We began as a foster based organization and will continue as a foster based group until we can build our adoption center. 

 

When we adopt a cat to a new caregiver the adoption fee we charge is our way recouping some of the investment that CCP has made in the care of that cat.  The fee we charge does not cover the full cost of care of the cat to prepare it for adoptions. This fee represents what we believe is a reasonable adoption fee that demonstrates the adopters commitment to the cat.

 

We receive calls and messages daily from people who have found a cat or kittens, saw a kitten in a parking lot or near a restaurant, picked up a kitten at a garbage dump asking us to take these homeless cats. We also hear from people that a cat lives or showed up in their back yard and has given birth to a litter of kittens and are wanting to surrender them to us. We hear from people who are moving and unable to take their cat with them and need us to take it in. The need from the community is great, but we are limited by size and finances. Our hearts break every time we have to tell people we are unable to assist.

Our success is dependent on community support. Our needs are both simple and great at the same time.  We need people willing to foster until the cat is adopted.  We need financial support for medical care and daily up-keep of our kitties.  We need an emergency fund for cats that need more than routine care.

So this is why we need your donations. We are working to humanely eliminate feline overpopulation and homelessness in Cenla.  We are striving to be sure our adoptable kitties are happy and healthy. In order to do this we need you to be that somebody who does something.
